Building a fairer picture of African diasporas
Koralytics is building a participatory map of African diasporas to produce data that is more reliable, more human and more useful about realities still largely invisible in official figures.
Our approach rests on a simple conviction:
What is not measured is often ignored.
A participatory approach
The map is built directly with the diasporas. Every contribution helps us better understand:

- —professional paths,
- —family realities,
- —educational dynamics,
- —economic ties,
- —experiences lived around the world.
The aim is not to reduce people to statistics, but to build a collective picture that is fairer and more nuanced.
Anonymous participation
Taking part is:

- —free,
- —voluntary.
No personally identifiable data is sold or used for individual commercial purposes. We pay particular attention to protecting sensitive information, to confidentiality, to data security and to GDPR compliance.
How the data is used
The information collected is used to produce:

- —anonymised trends,
- —maps,
- —studies,
- —indicators,
- —thematic observatories.
This work aims to better document the realities of African diasporas, feed public debate, inform decisions relating to diasporas and increase the visibility of communities still under-represented in existing data. No individual decision is made on the basis of the answers provided.
An ethical and transparent approach
Koralytics stands for a responsible approach to data. We believe diasporas should be able to:

- —take part in building the knowledge that concerns them.
Methodological transparency is an integral part of the project.
An independent, non-partisan approach
Koralytics represents no political party, ideological movement or campaigning organisation.
Our aim is above all to produce a better understanding of diaspora realities through data that is more reliable, more transparent and more representative. The information collected is meant to feed knowledge, research and public debate, in an independent and methodological approach.
An initiative in the making
This participatory map is a first step towards building a knowledge infrastructure dedicated to African diasporas. Our ambition is to contribute, over time, to a better understanding of diaspora dynamics on an international scale.
